— THE STORY BEHIND BATTU

For me, design is personal.

The name Battu comes from my grandfather, who affectionately called me Lina Battu. He was a farmer, fisherman and craftsman of Carib Indian and African descent, and his life was rooted in resourcefulness — working with his hands, creating with what was available, and finding value in the simple things. That way of seeing the world is where Battu Studio begins.

— OUR STUDIO

Intention, care, and hands-on involvement.

Battu is a design studio rooted in creative thoughtful craftsmanship, natural materials, and a deep respect for how people experience space. Led by Creative Director Linea Ogiste, the studio approaches each project with intention, care, guide and hands-on involvement.

— OUR PHILOSOPHY

Grounded, welcoming, enduring.

From residential interiors to hospitality environments, our work reflects a balance of beauty and function — creating spaces that feel grounded, welcoming, and enduring.

— CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Linea Ogiste

I grew up in Dominica, the Nature Isle — a place of rivers, mountains and lush rainforest, warm people, organic food and fishing villages. Surrounded by that natural beauty and simplicity, I learned to look at what already exists and see possibility, and to understand that luxury does not mean excess. Luxury can simply be something thoughtful, beautiful and well done.

My love of art and transformation naturally became the way I approach interiors. I use color, texture, art and unexpected details to bring a space to life, so every project feels considered and unique, yet deeply connected to the people who live, work and gather there. Through Battu Studio, I work alongside my clients to create finished spaces that feel beautiful and genuinely theirs.

— OUR ROOTS

Shaped by Dominica, the Nature Isle.

Rivers, mountains, rainforest, and a way of seeing beauty in the simple things — carried into every space we design.

— HOW WE WORK

Three principles that guide every project.

i.

Thoughtful Craftsmanship

We value the integrity of materials and the hands that shape them. Every detail is considered — from joinery to finish.

ii.

Natural Materials

Wood, brass, linen, stone. We build with materials that age gracefully and reflect the texture of place.

iii.

Human Experience

Design begins with how people will live, gather, and rest in a space. Function and feeling guide every decision.
